Uganda produces 85% of the coffee from Africa. Most of it is in the form of  native Robusta beans, which is a lesser quality than Arabica. This is an organic, Arabica lot from small land-holders in Yilwanko, Buginyanya, Bushiyi, Makali, Bukalasi, and Sipi communities. This varietal originates from Typica introduced to Nyasland (now Malawi) in 1878 from Jamaica. Mt Elgon Ugandan coffee is quite different from both Kenyan and Ethiopian coffees. This one has some citrus-notes like an Ethiopian; however, it has a very big body. Not as spicy as some Kenyans. either. Very versatile, and unique. It is sweet and clean at medium and dark roasts. French-roast builds bigger body with smoky-notes.
